Information on Fetal Development

January 18th, 2010 -- Posted in Uncategorized | 0

How would you like to improve the development of the fetal heart in your baby? This article will give you a great tip emerging in the medical world that’ll help assure fetal development heart health.

During fetal development, a baby relies solely on the mother for all the essential vitamins, nutrients, and calories it needs to grow.

By taking a fish oil supplement high in DHA omega-3, you can make sure that your baby develops a healthy brain and memory and avoids fetal development problems. In fact, it also reduces the chances of he/she ending up with some sort of behavioral or learning disability, such as ADD and ADHD.

DHA omega-3 is a key essential nutrient that cannot be created by the human body. Since this is true, there’s really nowhere to get adequate amount of it besides taking what the mother already has stored in her brain.

Supplementation is recommended for women that are breast-feeding, in order to provide the DHA necessary for healthy brain growth and the development of visual acuity. It also insures that the mother does not suffer from deficiencies.

DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids play a major role in the cognitive development of humans, and they are also crucial for the maintenance of healthy brain function and visual acuity. It has been recommended that adults increase the amount of fish in their diet for these reasons, as well as others.

Look for one high in the DHA omega 3, at least twice the amount of the other important one, EPA. Around 250mg of DHA per capsule will be sufficient to provide you with all of these benefits.

Fish oils supplements can be analyzed for mercury and other contaminants, whereas fish and seafood cannot. Even the listed nutritional values of foods are only estimates. It is not possible to analyze a piece of food, without making it inedible.

Other nutrients essential for normal fetal development include protein, folic acid, calcium, iron and recent studies indicate that choline is essential, too. Even a healthy diet may be lacking in some of these essential nutrients. Inadequate nutritional intake can lead to fatigue, as well as depression.

DHA fats also help in improving the eyesight of the child and aid in proper development of the nervous system. In other words, your child will be healthier and smarter if the mother takes fish oil during pregnancy.

DHA helps to develop the cerebral cortex because the cerebral cortex is made up of 15 to 20% DHA. Again DHA goes to make up over fifty per cent of the babies retina.

Folic Acid - A member of the vitamin B group, deficiencies in folic acid during pregnancy has been associated with higher risks of neural tube birth defects like spinal bifida.

It is good to know that you can still get the health boost of fish without the threat of contaminants in the process by getting the benefits of omega 3 fatty acids in the form of these dietary supplements.

Vitamin A - This vitamin helps to fight off infections and promotes normal eye and vision development. The best form of vitamin A is beta carotene, which is also an antioxidant.
